New King James VersionNKJV

Retains the traditional textual foundation of the KJV while using more contemporary English.

A readable, essentially literal translation useful for study, teaching, and daily reading.

Amplified BibleAMP

Adds bracketed wording to display shades of meaning. Most helpful when compared with a formal translation.

American Standard VersionASV

A historic, formal translation known for close attention to the wording of the original languages.

A thought-for-thought translation whose interpretive wording can move beyond the structure of the original text.

Uses a dynamic approach in many passages, making interpretive decisions that can obscure more literal wording.

The Passion TranslationTPT

A highly interpretive paraphrase containing expansions that are not directly represented in the underlying text.

New World TranslationNWT

Produced by the Jehovah’s Witnesses and renders important passages about Christ differently from historic Christian translations.

This is not a Bible translation. It is an additional religious text of the Latter-day Saint movement.
